Blogging and Teens

There are new blogs created every day by thousands of different people from all walks of life. Each is uniquely different, but when it comes to teenagers, they certainly have an edge of others. Generation X has the advantage of having grown up with the technology of the internet and for that matter blogging. It is very often second nature to them to use a computer to express themselves. Blogging can be done from anywhere in the world and it is that which makes it so appealing to a teen.

Blogs are a very popular form of expression within the teen community. One of the reasons that it is so popular is that it provides the teen with a mixture of both visibility and anonymity at the same time. A great thing if you are a teen! The teen blogger can choose to disguise his or her writing with a nickname or a handle, but are able to write things without fear of ever being known by their real names. For many, it is also an outlet to find those who have the same interests or views that they have. The comments feed on a blog is a great tool. A blog is the new century’s version of a physical diary or journal and teenagers relate to this format very well indeed.

Aside from blogging, the teen blogger also has the chance to publish his or her writings or poetry without the normal confines such as finding an editor or publisher. This is such an advantage over going the traditional route. Many editors want credibility and experience before publishing works, not to mention the age factor. With blogging the author simply inputs their work and hits post. This can help attract readers who wouldn’t have otherwise seen work by a teen author.

Another bonus is that teenagers can learn some of the more technical side of blogging, for example they can create themes for their blog by using a graphic design editor. Others may choose to play with HTML and plug their blog into a domain name. It is a very exciting and fun thing to learn. Teenagers love to create and this gives them a way to do so. Teenagers are also able to promote their blogs and create some income for themselves. What teenager doesn’t love that? Done correctly, a blog can turn a tidy profit and allow the teen some financial freedom.

Blogging is a great thing for a teenager. It enables them to be self-expressive, gain an outlet for their work and to meet people from all over the world who have similar interests to themselves. Hard work and dedication on the part of the teen can have some definite rewards, both financially and socially for a teenager. The average teenager thrives on attention and blogging is a perfect way to say “Look at me!” The possibilities are endless when it comes to teenagers and blogs. With a teen’s technical aptitude, it is no wonder that so many teens are out there blogging on the internet. It certainly shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
