Outdoor Banner Advertising

Outdoor banner advertising is still one of the most effective and cost effective way to market a business, attract attention, draw in customers and communicate your selling message to a wide swath of the general public. Every person who drives by, walks by, or bikes by a brick-and-mortar establishment displaying an eye-catching banner sign becomes an instant captive of this form of public media, or public advertising address.

To be effective, banners must capture attention, make a person look, and then communicate a fast, punchy, powerful message, with perhaps less than 4 seconds to get the job done. So just as important as the colors, materials and construction of the outdoor banner is the message it screams out to the public.

Like anything else, outdoor banner can run from the very cheap to the highly expensive. Perhaps the workhorse of the outdoor banner range is the vinyl outdoor banner. Being cheap, durable, coming in a variety of colors and being easy to make, a vinyl banner is versatile and won’t break your budget.

There are so many kinds of vinyl signs it is difficult to list them all. For example, a specific kind of highly effective vinyl sign is the perforated window sign. This is a high-tech perforated vinyl that can be hung in windows that display to a passing public, but can also be used with terrific effect inside a store or shop. Perforated vinyl signs allow one-way vision from inside a wall, much like a tinted window. They look great.

A PVC banner is also an extremely effective and much opted for choice for outdoor advertising. PVC is many times lighter than wood, so PVC banners are easy to place and secure exactly where you want them. You can put them up or take them down as your business needs. Computer technology also makes PVC signs a cinch to alter or modify. A “spring sale” banner can easily be converted into a “winter sale banner.” You don’t need an artist to make your PVC banner read what you want it to read. You can use computer formats and lettering to get exactly the look you want, and you can print up dozens of PVC banners in a day.

Let’s not forget outdoor electronic and digital banners. More expensive yes, and need to be plugged in somewhere, these have the advantage of lighted movement which are marvelous for attracting the eye and forcing the viewer to read the message you choose. Some may not consider a digital sign a banner, per se, but that really is just a matter of semantics.

Whatever kind of outdoor banner you choose, the choices of materials and configurations are many. But in the end, it is the communication itself — the message of that banner — which probably matters the most in the end. Will the message do the job? That is, will it grab attention, instantly communicate a selling message, and result in more traffic and sales? That’s the mission your banner must accomplish.
