Personal DVD Players

Before you purchase any personal DVD players you will need to ask yourself a few questions, and even ask a few questions of the unit you are going to buy. Remember that while the purpose is to play DVD’s, there may very well be other uses for personal DVD players, and with that being the case, let’s go over a few points that will come up when you hit the stores.

Integration: Can the DVD players you are looking into connect to your car sound system? If you have children or are planning a long road trip, the ability to watch movies in the vehicle can be very important. It will pass the time and keep children quiet! Being able to pipe the sound through your stereo system will be even more useful.

Input: The ability to watch DVD’s on the device will be a given of course, but what about playing video games? This is a bit outside of a DVD players job description, but if you have a video game console and the DVD player has RGB inputs, then why shouldn’t you be able to play games on it? This is great for being on the road, and it will provide your children with plenty of entertainment.

Formats: What formats can the personal DVD players support? Can they play recorded discs or do they have to stick with the standard factory pressed DVD’s? There are many formats out there from DVD +R to CD -R, and many of them have different capacities. Look into this before you buy, because at some point you will want to use a burned DVD.

Multi-Function: Does the player have multiple functions or does it only work as a DVD player? This is an obvious question of course, and you will need to look into whether or not the player can operate as a television as well. In addition to that some personal DVD players actually function as CD players on the fly.

Screen Size: Keep in mind that these DVD players are meant to be portable and as such they will feature smaller screens, but they do come in 7 inch and 9 inch flavors. Buy one with a screen that suits you and remember that you will not be viewing in HD quality.

These are a just few things that you will need to know about personal dvd players before you actually head to the store, and you will even find that some units feature detachable screens for placement on the back of car seats. These are all great innovations, and they will drive your decision in purchasing any DVD players for mobile use anytime in the future.
